Goal of VSFEMSA Scholarship Committee
The goal of this committee is to make financial grants available to enhance the education of the qualified applicants that apply. It has always been the policy of VSFEMSA to assist qualified applicants to further their education so they can better serve the Citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
ELIGIBILITY
- Any person that has an interest in the fire/EMS profession is eligible to apply.
- Applicant must be a resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Applicants must have been accepted in an undergraduate program in an accredited college, university or technical school for the school term following the date of this application.
- Application must be completed and be postmarked no later than July 31. Applications received after this date will be disqualified.
- If any section of the application is incomplete and all the required information is not received by the deadline, the application will not be considered.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Selection of award recipients will be based on a points system to be determined by the committee prior to receipt of applications and approved by the Executive Committee of VSFEMSA. Factors considered in points system will be academic record, financial needs, essay and future promise. The point system used will be on a scale of 1-5 with 1 being the lowest score. Applicants receiving the highest scores will be awarded if they meet all other criteria.
