Former Arlington Fire Chief Robert “Bob” Groshon, Sr. Answers Last Alarm

Folllowing his active military service, he entered the fire service and was a career firefighter in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. at Bethesda, Silver Spring, and Chevy Chase Maryland fire departments.Robert Groshon

He later joined the Arlington, Virginia fire department where he served for 24 years becoming that department’s fire chief in 1973. During corresponding years he was a member of volunteer fire departments at Hyattsville and Rockville in Maryland and Jefferson Fire Department in Fairfax County, Virginia. In 1978 he joined the South Carolina Fire Academy as a Program Specialist. He was a state-certified instructor for the states of Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. He also taught training classes for over 40 years in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, Illinois, and Florida.
