A child injured in a fire at a Lynchburg day care Friday morning died on Sunday, Lynchburg Fire Department Battalion Chief Jason Campbell said.

On Sunday, a family friend confirmed the death of a female child, Kayden Curtis, as a result of the fire. Tracy Dunn, the friend, owns Central Virginia Settlement Services where Kayden’s mother works.

Stacy Ferrell, the office manager at CVSS, was with the family at the University of Virginia Hospital. She said 21-month-old Kayden died at 12:15 p.m. from complications sustained due to the fire.

“She was just a loving and energetic little girl,” Ferrell said. “She meant the world to all of us.”
