WILLIAMSBURG — Two men canoeing at Waller Mill Park on Sunday were rescued from the water after their boat overturned, according to a fire department spokesman.

Both men were hospitalized, one with life-threatening injuries, according to the spokesman.

Eric Stone with Williamsburg Fire Department said that at 3:26 p.m. firefighters and paramedics responded to the park in reference to a report of two boaters in the water. He said four boaters heard someone yelling for help, then spotted a man in the water holding up another man. The pair were in a canoe in the body of water closest to Airport Road, Stone said.
